Jamshedpur-Telco Colony – a photo blog

This is a small photo blog of one of the most beautiful and clean city in India – Jamshedpur, also known as Tatanagar and steel city. I personally would like to call it – Greencity 🙂 .

The photos i took was in Jan 2017 when i was there. One early morning i went around Telco colony clicking photos of some close and known places. I could only cover Telco and the photos are produce of a normal phone camera. This album would speak more than the photos itself and it would be fun if my friends point out and name the places below that they could figure out. Lets take a walk down the memory lane.

Visapur – a one day trek

Visapur fort –  long trek (2 hours up) near Mumbai/Pune. This trekking destination is midway to old Pune-Mumbai highway, some 100 km from Mumbai by drive. It is at an elevation of 3,556 feet (1,084 m). It is built on the same plateau as Lohagad. Visapur Fort is larger and at a higher elevation than its twin fort- Lohagad. If you are traveling from Mumbai you need to take the right exactly opposite the road that goes to Kamshet . The drive is good till the trek base and one could drive till the base.We reached the base pretty late – 3 pm due to a road jam near Mumbai. The drive from the Pune-Mumbai highway till the base is smooth and nice. dsc_0190

We also reached late as we stopped frequently to take photos on the way. We drove through some small villages on the way before could reach the base.

The weather was pretty cool and cloudy. Air was fresh and the breeze soothing. It was end of September, 24th to be precise. As we walked the terrain we enjoyed some very beautiful scene around. Cloudy mountains, light cool breeze and beautiful nature. The trek is easy, the only issue at this moment of time, it was only my friend and me all along. As soon as we covered 45 minutes, light drizzle started. We had our wind cheater with us and the light drizzle did make the trek more beautiful. We just hopped that it didn’t rain. As we moved ahead we started hearing sound of water rushing downward from some were in the hills.dsc_0189 It was just amazing – the breeze, the drizzle, the clouds and now the sound of waterfall. There was also a singing peacock that we heard on our walk upwards. My friend was walking some 20 steps ahead of me. At one moment she stopped to look around . She was looking towards the downhill and i too just stopped to take a small watch break. To my utmost surprise and bewilderment i saw a peacock right behind my friend crossing the trek route and into the green on the other side. I was still, like a statue and asked my friend to be the same. Slowly i moved near her and i told her the reason of my surprise and excitement. We both started looking for her into the bushes for a moment. No sign though. I cannot forget the sight till date and the experience was just too beautiful .

After an hour or more, we reached at one of a small village in the hills. It was almost 4:30 pm now and we had walked a good distance. After inquiring regarding Visapur fort, the villagers told it would another hour from there. Also as it was late, they didn’t advise us to go further. It was becoming dark and we just sat near a small 2 room school there, just watching and sitting in silence. After 30 minutes we realized it was becoming dark and we should start for the down trip. We rolled down the hills soon. Till the time we reached our car it was already dark. We started asap, as we had to drive through small roadways crossing the villages. It was complete dark on the way, the only light on the road was of the car. We even lost our way twice and went straight into the jungle. Luckily met a old man on the way who helped us with the direction to drive out.

We were on the main street in 20 mins time. The small time of being in the dark, among the hills & woods with a female friend was a bit scary. Though we came out good from the adventure, it is advised to escape the dark, when traveling alone to such places .

Creating A Blissful Life

A beautiful & blissful life is achieved by practice – a practice of living a meaningful & peaceful life.

A blissful life is not a days work, it takes time, energy, effort and regular practice to reach a point, where every moment of the life is full of energy and utmost joy. People who understands that there is such a life possible and works towards it are ones who are lucky. Lucky are those who lives blissfully.

What is a blissful life :

This would seem a fantasy world to many, and yes this could be – the truth is this fantasy world is possible. Many are experiencing this and so could you.Lets see few practices that would help you get closer to such a world :

  1. Be Grateful : In all situation of life, do not forget to take time to thank the higher energies for this beautiful life. Be grateful for what you have in life. Before you ask for more from life, you need to understand that, that what you have, at any given time of life, is precious.Never compare your have with have not’s, only a fool does that.
  2. Treat Your Body Like A Temple. Remember your health is one of the most important asset you have. Stop abusing your body in any form. Exercise daily, eat fresh and good.
  3. Be Mentally Fit : Like body, the mind(brain) is also an organ which works tirelessly. This organ also needs to be fed. Feed it with beautiful thoughts. What you think you become ! Mental health has to be taken care of to live a wonderful life. You thoughts play a very very important role in every aspect of your life. Good thoughts always attracts good. Its like a magnet. The power of thoughts are amazing, use it to get good things in life. Meditation is the best exercise to keep your mind super healthy. Make it a daily practice.
  4. Be Calm & Quiet : Learn to sit quietly without doing anything. Keep your calm. During the day take out time, 15-30 mins to just sit and relax. Watch the world around you as things happen. DO NOT interpret anything. Let the thoughts that come by to pass as it is. Remember not all thoughts need your engagement.
  5. Do What You Love : Everyday make sure to do one thing that you love to do. Ideally a day spent doing things that you love to do is the best day. This work could be anything that you enjoy doing.
  6. Be Creative : Do some creative work. Get engaged in something creative. If you haven’t found your creative string still, join a class and learn a creative work.
  7. Explore Life : Life in all sense is an experience. Don’t be afraid to explore new things in life. It is always worth the chance. Don’t dwell into something that’s too frustrating for you, better explore something new in life. Many would say its a risk, but then the risk is of much worth than to succumb to life without risking anything.
  8. Be Happy : Learn to be happy. Being happy is a habit – a habit that comes from practice – a practice that comes from effort. Being happy is your birth right, nothing can or has the power to take it away  from you. Always carry a smile on your face & see how the world smiles to you.
  9. Live In Present : Train your mind to focus to the present moment. A mind wanders every where, more to past as it is a repository of all our experiences. Put all your focus and energies to the present moment. Enjoy small things – ironing clothes, washing 9a18cfb794e0a523dc5ff5c2f9a6cf10dishes, cooking – see the beauty in what you do and how you do. Plan for future & analyse your past at times, but don’t live in it. Remember the only true moment in your life and every bodies life is this – Present moment.
  10. Do Things That Add Value To Your Life : We do a number of activities in our 24 hours of time, ensure the activities are the ones that add value to your life. Make more sense of your duties and responsibilities you take hold of. Enrich you day and life by doing things that adds value to your life. Omit things that doesn’t add value to your life.
  11. Be Positive : Look towards brighter side of life or situations. There’s always a positive side to things. Start looking beyond the negatives. Instill so much positive in yourself that there is no place for any negatives.
  12.  Practice Giving : Giving is an art, learn this art of giving. Remember the more you give the more you get.
  13. Be With Nature :  Be close to nature. We are but nature. Thinking we are different form nature is not true. Be as close to the nature as possible – there is a lot that nature gives apart from food to eat and oxygen to breathe.
  14. Read : This is a wonderful habit and helps to get a first hand experience from people who had been there and done that. Read what seems relevant to you and your life.

You will find similar view points across all books, platforms and from people around the world. Any change will take place only when action is taken. Reading creates awareness and understanding. Doing is the only way to achieve your life goals.

Meditation – lessons for beginners

1. Start with early mornings. Theres no restriction of time when you do Mediation, but for beginners take the early morning slots. Get up early. Freshen up and find a nice , clean and peaceful place in your house. Any place that’s like open balcony or garden facing will be ideal. The noise should be minimum or zero.
2. Play a slow light instrumental music. You will find many on youtube. Download one that suits you best – sound of ocean waves, birds chirping, soothing instrumental…
3. Sit in the most comfortable position that u can. This could be anywhere, on bed, chair, floor…Make sure it is comfortable for you and where you will be able to sit for some decent time.
4. Close your eyes and just sit calmly for some time. Let those thoughts come to you. Try and observe them. Don’t follow any of the thought, remember just observe them. This step is to understand the thought process and is important to progress further.
5. Write down the thoughts that has come to you.
6. Practice the above 4 for 2-3 days time frame.
7. Once you start understanding your thoughts, then we move to the next stage. Here we follow the routine steps till 3. In the 4th step, instead of just being an observer now we start creating our thoughts. The idea is to control your thoughts first. Try switching from one thought to the other. This might be difficult in the early stage, but with practice this seems not much of a tough task.
8. Another very good practice to distract yourself from your unnecessary thoughts is to imagine. Imagination is powerful and can relax us in many ways. Whenever uncontrolled thoughts attack you, switch to imagination of something beautiful – A flower, beach, ocean, nature.. anything that you probably thinks keeps your attention and also is not disturbing .benefits-of-meditation-2
9. Now comes the stage where we learn to ask our own self to stop talking. Yes the inner voice, that’s continuous, the noise in the head should be lessen to reach to harmony with oneself. This is the stage where we try going thoughtless. Do this in pauses at first. Try to pause your inner voice in between. In those small pause and gaps you will find a free flow of your mind.Try achieving that free flow for longer times, that means long pauses between inner voice . These gaps open your mind to a newer world. You will feel the instant effect of something really better and far more soothing than anything.
